윈도 8을 쓰고 있으면 스토어를 가게 되면 윈도 8.1 업데이트가 나옵니다.

하지만 나오지 않고 아무리 마소 홈페이지가서 다운로드 업데이트를 클릭해도 스토어로 링크만 될 뿐,

나오지 않는 증상이 있는데, 이때는 원인이 최신 업데이트를 받아서 그런 것입니다.

홈페이지에는 두 가지 이유를 이야기하는데

1. 업데이트가 최신이 아니라서

2. 지원하지 않는 노트북을 쓰고 있어서

하지만 08년도에 산 듀얼코어 노트북에도 잘 설치가 되는 것을 보면.. 2번의 이유는 극히 드물 것으로 생각됩니다.

1번의 해결책을 살펴보면 다음과 같습니다.

Windows 8 용 업데이트(KB2871389) 설치하면됩니다.

그런데 이놈이 유독 설치 실패, 재부팅해도 설치 실패 ..

몇 번을 해봐도 깔 수가 없더군요.

이럴 땐 그냥 저 파일을 다운 받아서 설치하는 것이 속도도 훨씬 빠르고 잘됩니다.

이럴 것이면 따로 다운로드 하게 해서 깔게 하지 왜 자동업데이트 방식의 업데이트를 하는지 마소가 또 이해가 가지 않네요.

이 친구들은 뭘 해도 이해가 잘 안갑니다. 아무튼.

문제의 업데이트

보면 겁나게 실패한 흔적이..

업데이트 기록에서 실패한 업데이트에 우클릭을 하게 되면 위와 같은 화면을 띄울 수 있는 메뉴가 나타난다. 클릭.

이 화면이 나오면 추가 정보 클릭.

그럼 위와 같이 바로 링크를 알려준다. 운영체제 버전에 맞추어서 “지금 패키지를 다운로드하십시오.” 클릭

업데이트 하고 다시 시작 버튼을 눌러 메뉴 화면으로 돌아간 뒤 스토어를 보게 되면 윈도 8.1 업데이트에 대한 사항만 떡 하니 나오면서 업데이트를 할 수 있게 된다.

업데이트는 대략 40분정도 걸린 것 같다. 재부팅 후 이런 저런 환경설정하는데 시간이 꽤 든다.

하드에다 듀얼코어 옛 노트북이라 시간이 더 걸린 듯. 최신 ssd 컴이면 20분이면 되지 않을까.

Try these quick steps to recover your computer from a boot problem .

Cause information is not available.

The incomplete/faulty installation of Microsoft Windows Updates can cause the Windows 8 or 8.1 operating system to crash.

On reboot it’s common to see symptoms such as No Boot, Stuck at the Dell logo splash screen, stuck at the Boot Options splash screen or error messages such as Boot List Missing in the BIOS after the OS crashes in Windows 8 and 8.1.

The worst-case scenario is that this corrupts the Boot Information Table in the BIOS resulting in a No-Boot situation.

Note: Please be aware that unless you get an onscreen error, you have to give what appears to be a Stuck/Frozen Update Screen MORE THAN 30mins before you power the system off. Sometimes it can just take this long for the update to complete successfully.

The first step is to identify how badly your system is affected?

Method I: Can you boot normally or get to Safe Mode?

Note: You will require Windows 8 OS Media or a Windows 8 USB key or a Direct USB Key to carry out the steps below.

Ensure the Windows 8 OS Media is inserted or Windows 8 USB key is plugged in before entering BIOS. Press F2 at the Dell Logo to enter BIOS or System Setup and click Advanced Set SATA Mode to AHCI

Note: If you are using the Direct USB (DUSB) Key, SATA mode needs to be set to ISRT as the DUSB key contains the ISRT ‘inf’ file while installing the OS

On the ‘Boot’ tab set ‘Boot List Mode’ to UEFI Set Secure Boot to Disabled

Note: Use ODD as the Boot Option Name, if you are using Windows 8 Bootable DVD or USB as the Boot Option Name if you are using Windows 8 USB Key or Windows 8 Direct USB Key

Adding a Boot Option when using a Windows 8 Bootable DVD

Note: Do not make any changes to the list for Win 8 DVD, USB Key or Direct USB Key

Click Add Boot option and follow the instructions as mentioned below : Navigate to the Boot Options Screen (as shown in the picture above) Press Tab to move the cursor to the next line The ‘File System List’ will automatically be selected depending on the Windows 8 Boot Media used Press Tab to go to the next line

For adding a File Name (EFI Boot Selection)

Note: If you select Refresh and it says that the Drive is Locked, choose Reset by going back to the previous options

Add EFI Directory and then Boot Folder (as shown in the picture above) Select BOOTX64.EFI boot file and Confirm Changes

Once complete, you will see the boot option created in the UEFI Boot Screen in BIOS Save changes and exit the BIOS At the Dell logo press F12 and select the Boot option Now you would see the Win 8 Installation Screen asking for Language Selection, Click Next Click Repair below Install Select Troubleshoot Click Refresh or Reset After the Reset or Refresh Option, you will see the initial Out of Box Setup Screen and then Back on to the Windows 8 Desktop At this point, you need to update the BIOS to the latest version available in the Dell Drivers & downloads website.
