[다즈 DAZ 3D Studio] 맥스는 필요없다! 무료 3D 프로그램

3D 프로그램 중 단연 으뜸은 대부분 사람들이 맥스라고 말할 것이다. 솔직히 맥스는 3D를 잘 모르는 분들도 그 프로그램의 인지도가 워낙 강력하기 때문에, 아는 분들이 많다. (프로그램 이름만…) 그리고 마야도 이쪽 라인에 속하는 3D 전용 프로그램이다. 하지만 무료프로그램도 은근히 있다. 요전에 필자가 소개했던 블랜더(Blender) 라는 프로그램도 무료 3D 프로그램이다. 이번에도 소개할 프로그램은 3D 프로그램이며, 당연히 무료다. (패키지 중 일부) DAZ 3D Studio (다즈 3D 스튜디오) 를 소개한다.
다즈3D 로 이미지 구글링을 했더니….이런 오예스러운 이미지들만 검색이 된다. 기쁘면서 슬픈 현실…. 기쁜건 참으로 눈에 호강 가는 이미지들이 많이 검색되서 좋은데 우리자녀들 미성년자들이 성에 대한 올바른 인식이 깨어질 것 같은 생각이 든다. 나때만 해도 이미지 하나 다운하는데 56K 모뎀으로 몇분을 기다렸던가? 잠시 추억에 젖어 헛소리를 지껄였지만, 보시는 것처럼, 다즈3D는 인물에 특히 강력한 툴임에 분명하다.
이제부터 다즈 3D 설치과정이다. 본 내용에서는 프로그램의 사용법은 제시하지 않는다. 왜냐고? 나도 모르는데 누가 누굴 알려주겠는가… 그저 새로운 프로그램을 발견하여 반가운 마음에 글을 남기는 것 뿐이니 나머지 사용법들은 직접 구글링을 통해 알아보길 바라겠다.
다즈 스튜디오 (DAZ Studio) 홈페이지다. 이곳에서 저기 초록색상자인 GET STARTED HERE 를 클릭한다.

간단하게 가입하는 창이 뜬다. 한글이름으로 가입해도 무방하다. 다 입력하고 나면, 밑에 REGISTER TO START 를 클릭한다.
이제 완료되었고 마무리로 방금 작성한 이메일로 들어가서 마지막 인증을 하면 된다. 그리고 이메일을 통해서 다운로드를 할 수 있다고 나와있다. 현기증 나니까 빨리 메일로 접속해보자.
왔군… 클릭한다.
뉘예뉘예 알게쯉니다~ 하면서 저기를 클릭한다.
이런 화면으로 새창이 뜨고, 이윽고 다운로드가 시작된다. 익스플로러 유저분들은 다운로드 창이 뜨니까, 잘 다운로드 해주시면 된다.
프로그램 설치는 90년대 한때 유행했던 KKND 를 설치하는 것과 비슷한 방식…? 여튼 넥스트를 눌러서 쭈욱~ 설치를 진행한다. 설치 과정중에 어려운건 딱히 없으니 생략한다.
다 설치 완료되고 실행하면 이런 화면이 나온다. 특이하게도 로그인을 해서 들어가게끔 프로그램이 구성되어 있다. 방금 가입한 아이디랑 비밀번호로 로그인을 한다.
그러면 이렇게 부가적인 플로그인들을 다운로드 할 창이 나온다. 여기서는 OK를 눌러서 필수요소 몇가지들을 설치하길 권장한다. 윈도우도 치면 중요 업데이트 와 비슷한 것이다.
다운로드가 시작된다. 생각보다 시간이 걸린다.
다 다운로드 받으면 이제 설치할 일만 남았다. 설치진행을 하자. 마찬가지로 이것도 시간이 조금 걸린다. 중간이나 마지막에 특정파일이 설치가 안될수도 있는데 신경은 안써도 될 것 같다. 현재 내 PC가 뭔가 요구사항이 안맞아서 그런것이지, 기기문제나 프로그램 문제는 아니다.
DAZ3D 실행화면 오습이다. 뭔가 게임화면 같다.
혹시 구글 스케치업 이라는 3D 프로그램을 이용해 본 분이시라면, 이 화면이 익숙할 수 있겠다. 일단 맥스에서의 조작법이 아니라서 상당히 접근이 용이하지 못하다. 어떻게 조작해야 할지…ㅠ_ㅠ 아직은 사용법은 모르지만, 알게되면 까먹지 않게 반드시 포스팅을 하겠다.
다즈3D 소개영상
정말 다양한 프로그램들이 등장하는데, 점점 툴이 쉬워지면서 기능은 강력해지고 있다. 앞으로는 이제 누구나 3D 프로그램을 한글 다루듯 만지는 세상이 도래할 것이다. 3D 프린터도 같이 보급화 되면서 더 가속화 되면 좋겠다. 끝.

Daz 3D와 iClone 7을 동시에 접하다 보니 튜토리얼과 자료들이 체계적으로 구성된 iClone 7의 인상이 훨씬 좋았고 그래서 Daz 3D에 대한 편견이 있었습니다. 그런데 다소 정리가 덜 된 듯한 튜토리얼들을 보고 렌더링(아래 링크)까지 해보니, 장난이 아니더군요!
마침 Daz 3D와 Blender를 잘 비교한 글이 있는데요,
요약하자면, Daz 3D는 이미 만들어진 캐릭터나 배경 등 훌륭한 3D 애셋을 가지고 직관적이고 빠르게 씬을 구성하여 렌더링하는 데 유리하고 Blender는 박스 하나에서 시작해서 모든 것을 자유롭게 창조해 렌더링할 수 있는 강점이 있죠.
또한 Daz 3D나 Blender는 둘 다 무료 툴이고 3D 컨텐츠는 주로 유료 라이선스이지만, Daz 3D가 애초에 이미 만들어진 컨텐츠들에 의존하는 컨셉이고 또 Daz 3D 애셋을 export해서 다른 프로그램에서 사용하기엔 번거롭기 때문에 좀 더 비용이 드는 느낌입니다. 최근에 Daz 3D to Blender 툴 덕분에 많이 간편해지긴 했지만 여전히 번거로움은 피할 수 없죠. 그에 비해 Character Creator의 export 툴들은 사용이 훨씬 간편합니다.

Windows – Panes(Tabs) – Aux Viewport해서 미니 뷰포트를 나오게 하고 미니 뷰포트 상단에 Perspective View 옆에 동그라미를 클릭해서 렌더링 모드를 선택합니다.

강력한 Hotkey, 키보드 WASD, IJKL를 이용해서 카메라 구도를 맞춥니다.

이번엔 Smart Contents – Figure로 가서 캐릭터를 클릭합니다.
캐릭터가 로딩되면 헤어와 옷을 입혀줍니다. 이때 우측 메뉴에서 (Aux Viewport 대신) Scene 탭으로 가서 로딩된 캐릭터를 선택하고 옷이나 머리를 클릭해야 제대로 입혀집니다. 가령 Scene에서 옷을 선택한 채 헤어를 선택하면 옷에 머리가 붙는 이상한 오류들이 나타날 수 있습니다.
또 한가지 유의할 점은 캐릭터가 여러 종이 있는데요, Genesis 2, Genesis 3, Genesis 8 Male/Female 이런 것들이 캐릭터 종입니다. 헤어나 의상들은 각각의 캐릭터 종에 종속되므로 종이 다른 캐릭터에 적용할 때는 제대로 입혀지지 않을 수 있습니다.

캐릭터를 클릭하고 상단에서 유니버셜 툴을 눌러 캐릭터를 바위 위로 이동시킵니다.

Smart Contents – Shaping – RN Kayla Hair에 해당하는 항목을 골라 헤어 모양도 바꿔줍니다.
Create – New Camera – Copy Active View로 카메라를 만듭니다.

다른 각도에서 카메라를 하나 더 추가하고 Smart Contents – Pose – Expression 표정도 바꾼 뒤, 렌더링해봅니다.
저는 NVIDIA Iray를 사용하는데요, Render Settings에서 NVIDIA Iray로 설정하고 Render Mode에서 photoreal로 설정해니다.

Daz Productions, Inc. (commonly known as Daz 3D, stylized Daz3D or DAZ 3D in some logos) is a 3D-content and software company specializing in providing rigged 3D human models, associated accessory content, and software to the hobbyist as well as the prosumer market.
Daz 3D has a library of over 5 million assets for Daz Studio and other applications that allow users to create high-quality exportable 3D renders and animations.[1] Daz 3D has continued to focus on 3D-content development, but has also expanded their own software offerings as well, with purchases of several notable 3D applications:
Bryce, a fractal-based landscape modeler and renderer acquired from Corel by Daz 3D in 2004. [2]
Hexagon, a 3D mesh modeler originally developed by Eovia, acquired by Daz 3D in 2006. [3]
Carrara, a general purpose 3D modeler/animation package also acquired from Eovia in 2006.[4]
Additionally, Daz 3D developed their own scene creator software, Daz Studio,[5] as an alternative to Poser.[6]
History [ edit ]
Originally a part of Zygote Media Group, a general purpose, application-agnostic broker of 3D content, Daz 3D split off as Digital Art Zone[7] in 2000[8] to focus on supplying content for the Poser market. The company no longer uses that name, and does not treat “Daz” as an acronym for it.[9]
In 2016, Daz 3D spun off Tafi, a 3D-content company intended to focus more on the game developer market.[10]
Free 3D software [ edit ]
In 2012, Daz 3D shifted their strategy from selling 3D software and content to one of giving the software away for free[11] and focusing more on the selling of the content. This began with offering Daz Studio for free in 2012, which gave customers the ability to render images and video, and expanded in 2017 when Daz 3D added Hexagon to the list of their free software products and added the ability to do 3D modeling to that mix.[citation needed]
Figure technology [ edit ]
Daz 3D has had many versions of its human figures and characters, but in 2011 they launched a significant change in the underlying technology. Instead of each figure being designed individually, Daz 3D moved to their Genesis platform, in which figures were derived as morphs from the base mesh. Two of the key differences that this technology created were: the ability for characters to be blended into a huge variety of shapes; and, since these shapes were all derived from a common base, add-on content like clothing, hair, and additional morphs would not only work on all characters, but could actually change with the characters.[12]
The Genesis platform has gone through several versions since the launch in 2011:
Genesis 2 [ edit ]
One of the shortcomings of the Genesis platform was that although it allowed extremely flexibility in the shape of characters and clothing, it also toned down some of the elements of what made a male or female figure unique. Genesis 2, released in 2013,[13] changed this by splitting the Genesis base figure into two separate base figures: Genesis 2 Male and Genesis 2 Female.
Genesis 3 [ edit ]
Up until Genesis 3, the Genesis figures had been using TriAx Weight Maps, where many other industry platforms were using Dual Quaternion. This changed in Genesis 3, released in 2015,[14] to allow Daz 3D figures to be more compatible with other 3D software platforms as well as Game Development platforms.
Genesis 8 [ edit ]
The jump in version naming from Genesis 3 to Genesis 8 was in order to address confusion in naming conventions. Although Genesis had reached its fourth version, most of the Daz 3D flagship characters were now on their eight versions. In order to avoid the confusion of Victoria 8 or Michael 8 being Genesis 4 characters, Daz 3D shifted the versioning of Genesis to match with the character versions.
Genesis 8 also included significant changes, including joint and muscle bends and flexing, and facial expressions. This resulted in reduced backward compatibility with previous generations’ figures and their content.[15]
Genesis 8.1 [ edit ]
Genesis 8.1 is the newest update to the Genesis Platform. It allows users to create realistic characters with emotions for 3D artwork.[16][17] Genesis 8.1 has improved facial expressions, shader and UV improvements, more depth and realism to eyes, improved detail to mouth areas, and others.[18] Previous characters and animations created in Genesis can be used in Genesis 8.1. However, the 8.1 creations can not be used on any of the other platforms.

In January 2022 DAZ 3D minted a NFT collection “Non-Fungible People” featuring 8,888 unique female and non-binary PFP avatars, artistically rendered in a hyper-real style. Packed with utility geared toward the metaverse, NFP avatars can be used almost anywhere that supports 3D characters — including those used in real-time — from popular video game engines to AR and streaming software. Their vision is to help fulfill a diverse and inclusive metaverse.[19]
